How to create multiple desktops on Windows 11
To create multiple virtual desktops in Windows 11:
- From the Windows taskbar, select the Task View icon to open Task view.
You can also use the Windows logo key + Tab to open Task view. - In Task View, under New desktop click on Add + icon.
- And then open the apps you want to use on that desktop.

Alternatively, you can also use the Windows logo key + Ctrl + D to quickly add/create a virtual desktop.
How to switch between multiple desktops on Windows 11
To switch to another virtual desktop in Windows 11:
- Open Task View.
- And select a Desktop to switch to that desktop.

How to close a desktop on Windows 11
To close a virtual desktop in Windows 11:
- Open Task View.
- Click on the close × icon above a desktop to close that desktop.

Alternatively, you can also use the Windows logo key + Ctrl + F4 to quickly close the virtual desktop you're using.
How to set backgrounds for desktops on Windows 11
You can also choose different backgrounds for each desktop if you're using a picture. If you're using a solid colour or a slideshow, all your backgrounds will be the same.
