Workaround

So, after installing Windows Vista (Guest OS),
  1. Download VMware Tools 11.0:
On Host (main) OS, use your favourite browser and download the VMware Tool 11.0 available at https://packages.vmware.com/tools/releases/11.0.0/windows/VMware-tools-windows-11.0.0-14549434.iso (136 MB).
  2. Mount VMware Tools ISO file:
On VMware Workstation, select VM Removable Drives > CD/DVD (IDE) > Settings...
Under Connection, choose the Use ISO image file option.
Click on the Browse... button > navigate to the location where you downloaded the VMware Tools ISO file > select the VMware Tools ISO file and click on the Open button.
Under Device status, check Connected and then click on the OK button to mount the Windows Update ISO file.
  3. Install VMware Tools versions prior to 11.0:
In Windows Vista (Guest OS), open DVD/CD Drive and,
And then install VMware Tools as you normally install.
And that’s how you can install VMware Tools in Windows Vista.
