Recently, American company Meta added the ability to change WhatsApp's Chat Theme. This article describes how to change the chat theme of all chats or an individual chat on WhatsApp for Android phones.
Change WhatsApp's Default Chat Theme
To change the theme of all your chats and channels on WhatsApp:
- Tap on More options ⋮ (3 vertical dots at top right) and select Settings.
- In Settings, tap on Chats.
- In Chats settings, tap on Default chat theme under the Display section.
- Here you can choose from 22 Themes or you can customise each theme.

Change the Theme of individual WhatsApp Chat
To change the theme of individual chat on WhatsApp:
- Open the Chat of which you want to change the theme.
- Tap on More options ⋮ (3 vertical dots at top right) and select Chat theme.
- And here you can choose from 22 Themes or you can customise each theme.
