How to upgrade to Windows 10 for free? | Even if your PC is NOT ACTIVATED

In this, blog post, I will show you, how to upgrade to Windows 10 for Free.

Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020, and support for Windows 8.1 will end on January 10, 2023. Learn more >

1. Download the correct Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File)

The best way to upgrade is using ISO File. which you can easily download from the Microsoft website for FREE.
Here's the step-by-step guide to downloading Windows ISO Files:

Please note: you have to download the correct ISO file according to your current Windows System type.
To check the system type
On Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8:
Right-click on Start and select System. And then look next to System type.
On Windows 7:
Click on Start > Right-click on My Computer and select Properties. And then look next to System type.
Also note: you can't directly upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows Vista and older versions of Windows (XP. 2000, ME, 98 SE, 98, 95, etc).

2. Upgrade to Windows 10

Steps to upgrade to Windows 10:

  • After downloading, open the Downloads folder (or, the folder where you downloaded Windows 10 ISO file).
  • Open the ISO file (Win10_22H2_English_x64) by double-clicking on it. (You will have to use software like WinRAR/7-Zip to open/extract the ISO file on Windows 7).
  • And then open setup.
  • On UAC, Click on Yes.
  • On ‘Install Windows 10’, Click on Next.
    If it asks for a Product Key in this step, that means your current Windows is not activated. Don’t worry use these keys.
    For Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium | Windows 8.1 (Core), with Bing | Windows 10 Home: TX9XD-98N7V-6WMQ6-BX7FG-H8Q99
    For Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate | Windows 8.1 Pro | Windows 10 Pro: W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
    For Windows 7 Enterprise | Windows 8.1 Enterprise | Windows 10 Enterprise: NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43
    These keys are taken from the Microsoft website. These are not Product Keys. This means your Windows will not going to activate. If the above keys do not work, try other keys from here: KMS client setup keys.
    And then click on the Next button.
  • On ‘Applicable notices and license terms, click on Accept.
  • On ‘Ready to install’, Click Install.
    If you want to start fresh with a clean installation of Windows 10 22H2, click the Change what to keep, select Nothing, the Next button, and then the Install button.
  • And then, your PC will starts upgrading to Windows 10. This may take half an hour.
  • After the Upgrade process completes, click on Start Settings Windows Update, and click on Check for updates. And install all the updates. This includes updates for Windows 10 and device drivers.
