Keeping apps on Android phone up to date makes the phone secure and improve performance.
Please note: I will use Samsung Galaxy M34 running on One UI 6.1 (based on Android 14). So some settings may be different in the different models.
How to update system apps on Samsung (Android) phone
Some system apps (like Gallery) are not available on Play Store, so we need to update those apps from Galaxy Store.
Before we proceed, update Galaxy Store.
How to update Galaxy Store on Samsung Phones
To update Galaxy Store on Samsung phone:- Open Store.
- In Store, tap on the menu ≡ icon (at the bottom right) and select the Settings icon (at top right).
- In "Galaxy Store Settings", under General, tap on About Galaxy Store.
- If the status says "A new version available" then tap on Update. And, If the status says "The latest version is installed", then continue and update Apps from Galaxy Store.
How to update Galaxy Store Apps on Samsung Phones
To update system apps on Samsung phone:
- Open Store.
- On Store, tap on the menu ≡ icon (at the bottom right) and select Updates.
- If it shows the list of apps, then tap on the "Update all" button. And, if it says "All your apps are up to date", then continue and update Apps from Play Store.
How to update the apps using Play Store on Android phones
Before we proceed, update Google Play Store.
How to update Google Play Store on Samsung Phones
To update Google Play Store on Android phones:- Open "Play Store".
- In "Play Store", tap on the profile icon and select Settings.
- In Settings, tap on About.
- Under "Play Store Version", tap on "Update Play Store".
- If it says "A new version of Google Play Store will be downloaded and installed", then tap on Understood. It will automatically download and install in a few minutes. And if it says "Google Play Store is up to date", then tap on "Got it" and then update apps from Play Store.
