How to turn off Automatic media download in Telegram app on Android phone

Whenever someone sends photos, videos and voice messages, it starts downloading itself. Which can eat a lot of internet data. To turn off Automatic media download in Telegram app:
  1. Open the Telegram app on the phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon ≡ (top left) > Settings > "Data and Storage".
  3. Under "Automatic media download", turn OFF the toggle next to "When using mobile data", "When connected on Wi-Fi" and "When roaming".

How to turn off Auto-play media in Telegram app on Android phone

Whenever someone sends us GIFs or videos, it starts playing itself. Which can eat internet data. To turn off Auto-play media in the Telegram app:
  1. Open the Telegram app on the phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon ≡ (top left) > Settings > "Data and Storage".
  3. Under "Auto-play media", turn OFF the toggle next to GIFs and Videos.

How to turn off Streaming Videos and Audio Files in Telegram app on Android phone

  1. Open the Telegram app on the phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon ≡ (top left) > Settings > "Data and Storage".
  3. Under "Streaming", turn OFF the toggle next to "Stream Videos and Audio Files".

  1. Open the Telegram app on the phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon ≡ (top left) > Settings > "Data and Storage".
  3. Under Calls, tap on "Less Data for Calls" and select Always.
Currently, I am using Telegram app version 8.5.2. So these settings may be different in different versions.
