The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a major update to its BHIM app, introducing several new features for UPI payments.
BHIM 3.0 New Features:
- Split Expenses: Users can split bills with family and friends, track payments, and receive notifications about pending contributions.
- Family Mode: Users can link family members, assign specific payments like rent or utility bills, and track shared expenses for better financial planning.
- Spend Analytics: Provides a breakdown of monthly expenses across categories to help users manage their finances efficiently.
- Built-in Assistant: Notifications for pending bills (e.g., electricity, water) and low UPI Lite balance.
- Optimized for Low Networks: Works well on slow or unstable internet connections, benefiting users in remote areas.
Security Enhancements: Improved encryption for better protection against financial fraud.
Merchant Features: BHIM Vega has been integrated, offering an in-app payment solution for merchants.
Rollout Information: The update will be rolled out in phases starting in April 2025 and will be available on Android and iOS devices.
