Microsoft introduced Value Tokens in Microsoft Excel

The blog post introduces a new feature in Microsoft Excel called value tokens, aimed at enhancing the formula editing experience. Here are the main highlights:
  • Purpose: Value tokens provide a clear visual indicator when a cell contains a specific data type (like geography, currency, or other formats). This enhancement improves the usability and clarity of working with diverse data types in Excel.
  • Functionality:
When you assign a data type (e.g., Currencies or Geography) to a cell, a value token appears.
The value token includes an icon that helps differentiate between various data types.

  • Future Plans: Microsoft plans to integrate value tokens more deeply into Excel's formula editing experience.
  • Feedback: Users are encouraged to share feedback through Excel’s Help > Feedback option or the Feedback Portal.
