Meta bringing back Facebook Friends tab

Rediscovering Friendship on Facebook: A New Chapter Begins
Remember the early days of Facebook? Connecting with friends and seeing their updates was the core of the experience. Over time, the platform has evolved, bringing us new features and content. Now, Meta is taking a step back to the basics, announcing a renewed focus on friends with the launch of a revamped Facebook Friends tab.
New Facebook Friends Tab
As announced on March 27, 2025, this update marks the beginning of a journey to bring back the "OG" Facebook magic – the joy of connecting with your close circle. Meta acknowledges that while Facebook has expanded with successful features like Groups, Video, and Marketplace, the core experience of staying connected with friends has somewhat faded.
The new Friends tab is designed to make it easier than ever to see content exclusively from your Facebook friends. Say goodbye to recommended content within this dedicated space! Instead, you'll find your friends' stories, reels, posts, birthdays, and friend requests all in one place.
Previously, the Friends tab was primarily a space for viewing friend requests and "People You May Know". This significant update transforms it into a dedicated feed for your existing connections.
How can you access this new Friends tab? It will initially be available through the navigation bar on your home Feed. You can also find it in the Bookmarks section of the app.
For quick and easy access, you can even pin the Friends tab to your navigation bar. Here's how:
1. Click your profile picture in the Home feed.
2. Click “Settings & Privacy,” “Settings,” and then “Tab bar.”
3. Choose to customize the bar, then click “Friends” and pin the tab.

This new Friends tab is rolling out starting today in the United States and Canada. Meta assures us that this is just the first of several "OG" Facebook experiences planned for this year, all aimed at making social media feel more social again and helping you connect and share with ease.
This initiative highlights Meta's commitment to strengthening communities and responding to the evolving needs of its users by bringing back the fundamental joy of connecting with friends on Facebook. Stay tuned for more updates as Meta continues to roll out these exciting new (and old-school inspired) features!
