In this blog post, you will learn, how to share a huge file using ToffeeShare.

What is ToffeeShare?

ToffeeShare is a file-sharing web service. Using ToffeeShare you can share your files securely and fast, directly from your device without ever storing anything online.

Why use ToffeeShare?

Toffeeshare is a free Peer to Peer (P2P) file-sharing service focused on privacy and security. The website store nothing online. You simply close your browser to stop sending. ToffeeShare always find the shortest path from sender to receiver meaning sometimes your data doesn't even have to leave your network!
Here are 4 benefits of using ToffeeShare:
  1. FREE: It is free and no need to create an account to use it.
  2. No file size limit: There's no limitation on the size of the files you can send, nor the amount. You are only limited to what your device (or browser) can handle. To ensure maximum performance make sure to keep your browser up-to-date.
  3. Only the receiver can see your files: Only you and the receiver can access your files. ToffeeShare currently uses an implementation of DTLS 1.3. Your data is encrypted end to end, and can only be read by your receiver (and you of course).
  4. Nothing stored online: When the transfer is complete your files are no longer on the internet, so there's no risk of anyone hacking a server to get to your files: it's simply not there.

Is ToffeeShare safe?

With basic encryption, your data is made incomprehensible to make sure nobody can listen in when you’re connected to a server. This is safe in most cases, but if for whatever reason a server is compromised or hacked, the privacy of your data is in jeopardy. End-to-end encryption solves this problem by leaving out the man in the middle. Instead of on the server, encryption will be done directly between the sender and receiver.
Nowadays more and more services that take security in mind adopt this idea. The downside is that both parties have to be online at the same time to make the required agreement to make end-to-end encryption possible. And of course, there are the services that have other reasons for sticking as the man in the middle.
There are many different ways of making end-to-end encryption possible, but ToffeeShare uses the default WebRTC implementation, which currently is DTLS v1.2, an industry standard. The encryption will automatically update when your browser does, so you are always sure to have the latest version running (as long as you keep your browser up-to-date of course).
