How to set File Explorer to open to This PC in Windows

By default, File Explorer opens to Quick access, renamed to File Explorer Home in Windows 11, Version 22H2. Microsoft recommends Home as your landing page in File Explorer, where you can:
  • Access your most recent and favourite Office.com files quickly.
  • Search and find relevant files from your PC and the cloud much faster than with This PC.

To set File Explorer to open to This PC in Windows 11:

  • Open the "File Explorer".
  • Click on "See more …" and select Options.
  • In the "Folder Options", click on the drop-down menu next to "Open File Explorer to", then select This PC.
  • And then click on the OK button to save settings.

To set File Explorer to open to This PC in Windows 10:

  • Open the "File Explorer".
  • Click on the View tab then on Options.
  • In the "Folder Options", click on the drop-down menu next to "Open File Explorer to", then select This PC.
  • And then click on the OK button to save settings.
And, now when you open File Explorer, it will open to This PC instead of Quick Access or Home.
