In a browser, like Chrome or Firefox, you can choose your preferred theme for Google Search. If you prefer a specific colour scheme for Search pages, you can choose to always use a Light theme or Dark theme. Search pages include the Google homepage, search results page, and Search settings.
To change your preferred theme for Search on mobile devices and tablets, update your Search settings. Your theme settings save on all mobile devices and tablets you use signed in to your Google Account.
Looking for PC: How to turn on Dark Theme for Google Search on Windows PC
- On your mobile device or tablet, do a search on google.com.
- If you want the same Search settings across mobile device browsers, sign in to your Google Account. At the top right, tap Sign in.
If you find your Profile picture or initial, you’re already signed in. - At the top left, tap More ≡ and then Settings.
- Under Appearance, choose Device default, Dark theme, or Light theme.
Device default: Automatically match the colour scheme of your current device
Dark theme: Light text on a dark background
Light theme: Dark text on a light background - Tip: To switch quickly between themes, click More ≡ and then Dark theme: On or Dark theme: Off.
- Scroll down and tap on the Save button to save the setting. And then on OK to confirm.
